Heather Kangas
Holloman AFB
STEM Outreach Coordinator
Alamogordo, New Mexico
Heather Kangas is a mother of 5 children and a proud USAF spouse. She discovered her love of teaching as a parent volunteer. That love pushed her to pursue education as a career. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education and a Master’s Degree in Educational Learning Technologies. She currently works for Air Force STEM as the 704 Test Group STEM Outreach Coordinator.
Ms. Kangas strives to create hands-on STEM that can be implemented in any classroom while tying into both Common Core State Standards and Next Generation Science Standards. In the last 2 years as the STEM Outreach Coordinator, she has held over 65 events and has reached 8,700 students. Ms. Kangas' passion is working with teachers and students to create meaningful STEM learning experiences. While Ms. Kangas will present lessons in classrooms as requested, she has also worked with Air Force STEM and local teachers to build an educator lending library. She hopes to use this workshop to share meaningful STEM lesson ideas with those that impact students the most, their teachers.
